Prairie Chapel

In the heart of the countryside, a 125-year-old church stands on the Texas plains. Slated for demolition, the chapel was saved by Tate Farms, lifting it from its foundation and moving it eight miles to their pasture.
This act of preservation deeply inspired me.

I attended the restoration fundraiser with the idea of capturing the restoration. Once there, I was unsure if I could get a usable shot under such challenging conditions—the sun was blinding bright, my eyes stinging from sweat on a sultry, 100-degree day. Yet, as the day slipped away, the light diffused, the sun appearing like a streetlamp in the fog, casting a magical glow over the weathered, wooden-sided chapel. A magnificent sight as day faded to night, embodying the spirit of resilience and renewal.
